INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
The Journal of Physical Education and Sport (JPES) promotes OPEN ACCES and selects the best manuscripts for publication.
The editorial staff requires that all manuscripts that are sent for publication to be evaluated.
A reviewed manuscript will be subject to one of four possible outcomes regarding publication in JPES.
1. Initial rejection of the manuscript by the editing committee without further review (due to severe deficiencies in writing/content, theme)
2. Acceptance without modifications
3. Acceptance with minor modifications
4. Acceptance only after major modifications
The decision will be communicated to the respective author(s) in a strictly anonymous form. During the peer-review process, the reviewers will evaluate elements from the Evaluation Protocol that is provided below, which makes direct reference to having published a manuscript that is considered an original article.
1. Originality of the investigation 20 points
2. Scientific topicality 15 points
3. Applicability to current practice 15 points
4. Design quality of the study 10 points
5. Quality of the disclosed results 10 points
6. Clarity and depth of the discussions 10 points
7. Clarity of the conclusions 10 points
8. Accuracy of timely quotes and the bibliography 5 points
9. General language quality of the manuscript 5 points
On the basis of these considerations from the Evaluation Protocol, all manuscripts will be given a maximum number of points: < 50 points will result in rejection, >70 will result in publication, and 50-70 points will require some punctual modifications to the article before acceptance/rejection is decided.
Technical Formatting Guide for Authors
To be accepted for the peer-review process, all manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Physical Education (JPES) must strictly adhere to the technical criteria listed below. Papers that do not meet these requirements will be returned to the authors for correction prior to scientific evaluation.
1. General Document Format
· File Format: Editable Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).
· Language: English (highly recommended for international visibility) or Romanian.
· Page Size: A4 (210 x 297 mm).
· Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides (Top, Bottom, Left, Right).
· Font: Times New Roman, 10 pt font size for the main text body.
· Line Spacing: Single lines.
· Alignment: Justified.
· Manuscript Length: Between 8 and 15 pages (including tables, figures, and references).
2. Mandatory Manuscript Structure
Every submitted manuscript must include the following elements in this exact order:
A. Identification Data (First Page)
· Article Title: 13 pt, TNR Bold, Centered. It must be concise and informative.
· Authors' Names: 10 pt, TNR Centered (First Name SURNAME).
· Institutional Affiliation: Department, Faculty, University/Institution, City, Country (10 pt, TNR).
· Corresponding Author: Marked with an asterisk (*). A valid institutional email address must be provided in the footer of the first page.
B. Abstract and Keywords
· Abstract: Between 250 and 400 words. It should briefly summarize the introduction, objectives, methodology, main results, and conclusions. Format: 10 pt, TNR
· Keywords: 3–5 relevant terms, separated by commas.
C. Main Body Text (IMRAD Structure)
For experimental research papers, the text must be structured into the following clear sections (section titles must be written in 10 pt, Bold):
1. Introduction: Topic context, current state of research, and study hypotheses/objectives.
2. Materials and Methods: Description of subjects (sample), tools used, experimental protocol, and statistical analysis methods.
3. Results: Clear presentation of the obtained data, supported by visual elements.
4. Discussion: Interpretation of results in comparison with other studies in the current literature.
5. Conclusions: Synthesis of the most important findings and their practical applicability.
3. Rules for Tables and Figures
· Tables: Must be embedded directly in the text, immediately following the paragraph where they are first mentioned. Each table must be numbered (e.g., Table 1) and have a descriptive title placed above it (10 pt, Bold).
· Figures (Graphs, Photos, Diagrams): Must be clear and high-resolution (minimum 300 dpi), centered in the text. The figure caption must be placed below it (e.g., Figure 1. Evolution of physiological parameters - 10 pt).
· All tables and figures must be cited within the text body (e.g., "...as shown in Table 1").
4. Citation Style and References
The Journal of Physical Education uses the APA (American Psychological Association) citation style, recent edition.
· In-text Citations: Include the author's surname and the year of publication in parentheses: (Popescu, 2023) or (Ionescu & Vasilescu, 2022). For more than two authors, use: (Popescu et al., 2021).
· Reference List (at the end of the article): Ordered alphabetically by the authors' surnames. It must include DOI (Digital Object Identifier) codes whenever available.

Non-native English speakers will be asked to seek help in preparing their manuscript from specialized services that provide scientific editing and proofreading.
Manuscript Editorial Workflow
The Journal of Physical Education (JPES) follows a rigorous and transparent editorial process to ensure high-quality academic publishing. Below is the step-by-step workflow that every submitted paper undergoes.
Step 1: Manuscript Submission

• Cost: Free (No submission or initial processing fees apply).
Step 2: Initial Editorial Screening
• Plagiarism Check: Every paper is screened using professional anti-plagiarism software.
• Scope & Formatting Review: The Managing Editor checks if the topic aligns with the journal’s scope and follows the mandatory APA technical formatting guide.
• Outcome: Manuscripts failing this stage are returned to authors for revision or rejected immediately.
Step 3: Double-Blind Peer-Review
• Evaluation: The paper is assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers matching the topic's specific field.
• Anonymity: Both the author's and the reviewers' identities are kept strictly confidential.
• Outcome: Reviewers provide recommendations: Accept without changes, Minor revisions required, Major revisions required, or Reject.
Step 4: Author Revision (If Applicable)
• Action: If revisions are required, the author receives detailed feedback and must resubmit the updated manuscript within the specified deadline.
• Verification: The Section Editor reviews the changes to ensure all academic suggestions were properly addressed.
Step 5: Final Editorial Decision & Official Acceptance
• Approval: The Editor-in-Chief issues the final decision based on the peer-review results.
• Notification: If approved, the author receives an official Letter of Acceptance and the final layout proof of the article.
Step 6: Publication Fee Payment
• Invoicing: Upon official acceptance, the corresponding author receives the invoice and payment instructions for the standard Publication Fee.
• Purpose: This mandatory fee covers digital typesetting, CAEN 5814 electronic formatting, DOI registration, and global Open Access archiving.
• Note: The manuscript will proceed to final publication only after the payment is confirmed by the Ro Sport & Art Association (RSAA) financial department.
Step 7: Online Publication (Open Access)
• Final Stage: The article is assigned to an upcoming volume/issue and published live on the official website under the Creative Commons CC BY license, making it instantly accessible to the global scientific community.
