Abstract

This study argues that one’s grit score will be positively associated with positive psychological factors and mitigate some of the negative psychological factors. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to examine the relationships between grit and other psychological factors in student-athletes. Our finding suggests that student athletes’ grit score is significantly associated with psychological factors including self-efficacy, satisfaction, anxiety, and perceived academic performance, and the relationship was moderated by the NCAA Divisions. This finding provides valuable insights into the specific academic dynamics within different NCAA divisions and highlights the importance of grit in navigating the demands of higher-level athletic competition while maintaining academic achievement.
